A demon haunts Adela’s house, tormenting her and causing her harm. This drives her to visit a psychiatrist, where medication is presented as the ultimate cure for all her problems. But what she truly needs is for someone to listen to what is really happening to her. The only place where her reality seems to fit is within religion and folk rituals, leading her to visit a healer to whom she confides how and when it all began.

The life of Fermín goes by, divided between his work as a diablero and the confinement he lives in within his house. Like him, other families live in a vecindad in the heart of Mexico City. One day, a company colluded with the government threatens to evict the vecindad tenants in order to build a mall. Facing the threat of an eviction, the tenants join in solidarity to come out of their self-absorption and fight for a common cause.

Laura doesn't know what to do with her loneliness. She gets involved in multiple games of seduction, unable to go home alone, without someone to share her affections with. She confides in her sister, Sara, they share dinners, they confide their fears. Laura feels she has to change, to escape the chaos that her life has become, especially when her children surprise her with a stranger in her bed. She then seeks out her mother, as if trying to reconcile with her.
